Harness Training
Due to tigher regulations and a wish to reduce risks to employees, harness use is being written into many risk assessments. Employers' responsibilities do not end with just supplying the equipment, they should ensure their employees are trained to use equipment properly. Improper selection or use of harnesses can be fatal, as well as reducing productivity.
Astley Hire offer two courses, both of which ensure operators have been trained to select, inspect and use the right harness and lanyards for the job they are doing.
IPAF accredited harness training for MEWPs
Manufacturers of MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms) and Static Booms recommend in their operating manuals that harnesses should be used. Therefore, Risk Assessments and Method Statements should require their use.
The IPAF MEWP harness course covers all aspects of harness use relating to MEWPs, including:
- Selection of Harness and Lanyard
- Correct fitting and adjustment
- Inertia devices
- Suitable anchorage points
- Harness inspection
- Record keeping
